Milburn Cain & Co. was founded in 1974 by M. David Cain, Sr. who envisioned a firm known for its commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards while providing quality services tailored to the unique needs of clients. To fulfill that vision, we have implemented and refined a quality control system that includes detailed reviews of all work issued, a commitment that all professionals will receive continuing professional education averaging 40 hours per year to keep up to date on new laws and standards, even if not required for licensing, and, most importantly, a willingness to listen to our clients.

M. David Cain, Sr., CPA

Mr. Cain received his BSBA from Northwestern University. After 20 years as a CPA, 19 of which as a partner or sole proprietor, he left Rose, Christenson and Cain to form Milburn Cain & Co. Mr. Cain has served on various committees for the Illinois CPA Society, including the Committee on Governmental Accounting and the Ethics Committee. While Mr. Cain chaired the Local Government Committee the report review program of the Illinois CPA Society was developed, a program that is still being used to ensure quality reporting in Illinois. In addition to his professional service, Mr. Cain served as president of the board for Grove School, Northern Illinois Medical Center, and McHenry County School District 15. He was also an organizer of the First National Bank of McHenry, and has served on the board of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry, The Ralph Smith Foundation, and the Lake Forest Presbyterian Church. Mr. Cain is a licensed CPA in both Illinois and Wisconsin.

M. David Cain, Jr., CPA, JD

Mr. Cain received his BS from Illinois State University and his JD from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. Mr. Cain joined Milburn Cain & Co. in 1988 after working in the tax department of Touche Ross & Co. Mr. Cain has served on the Illinois CPA Society Committee on Governmental Accounting and the Federal Income Tax Committee. He has also spoken to numerous groups on developments in tax law. In addition to his professional service, Mr. Cain has been a member of the board of the McHenry County Youth Service Bureau, Conference Point Center, Village of Lombard Finance Committee, Christian Church of Villa Park, the Lombard Church of the Nazarene, and Villa Park School District 45. He is a member of Rotary, serving both as President of his local club and treasurer of Rotary District 6440. Mr. Cain is a licensed CPA in both Illinois and Wisconsin, has previously been granted Practice Privileges in California, and is a member of the American Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association.
