Governments and Nonprofit Organizations

Local governments and nonprofit organizations face challenges that are different than those faced by small businesses and have different accounting and auditing standards. Milburn Cain & Co. has made a commitment to local governmental and nonprofit audit and accounting services. All members of our professional staff have extensive experience in this area, not only by working in the field but also participating in the Illinois CPA Society Report Review program and serving on Society committees.

Since our founding, Milburn Cain & Co. has been providing audit services to school districts, villages, park districts, library districts, and other local governmental agencies. We have prepared reports that have been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association and the Illinois Association of School Business Officials.

Our services to nonprofit organizations go beyond that of simply issuing audits in compliance with state and federal grant awards and preparing Form 990 and AG990. We have assisted in the creation of nonprofit organizations, preparing the applications for and obtaining recognition as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

Whether your organization or government needs an audit in compliance with government auditing standards, the Yellow Book, OMB A-133 or other annual filings, Milburn Cain & Co. has the expertise to assist you in complying with your legal filing requirements.
